Obituary

Harmon Hans Hansen Sr. of Eugene passed away April 27, 2018 he was 95. Harmon was born September 27, 1922 in Bowbells, North Dakota to Hans Herman and Sine (Andersen) Hansen.
Harmon’s family moved to Eugene in 1939. He drove ambulance and tow truck for a year before going to work for Wildish Sand and Gravel in 1940, driving dump truck. He hauled gravel to Camp Adair in Albany when it was being built in 1941-42.
He joined the Army in 1942, and was stationed in California and Oklahoma. He was sent to Okinawa and was with the 1st Rocket Battalion the Army had in 1945. He was discharged in 1946.
He married Vera Neve in December 1946, and they had 3 children. He farmed in ND. and then they moved to Hamilton, MT. They later divorced in 1962. Harmon returned to Eugene in 1964 and went back to work for Wildish. He married Joan Kreeger in 1969 in Eugene, OR. He retired from Wildish in 1988.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Harmon is survived by his wife Joan; 3 children, Harmon Jr. (mic) of Hamilton, MT, Linda Oster (Allen) of Winnemucca, NV and Michael of Missoula, MT; a step-son Mark Kreeger (Linda) of Las Vegas ,NV; one sister, Lois Keeney of Springfield, OR; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He always looked forward to visits from family and friends.
He loved going to the airport and watching the planes coming and going. He loved to go out and feed the birds and squirrels in his back yard. He always had to have a plant or two of tomatoes in his garden. Harmon lost his eye sight in 1998 and couldn’t drive anymore. Joan drove their motor home and they would travel in the summer time to visit family and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made in Harmon’s name to the Oregon for the Blind Association, Oregon Talking Books 250 Winter St. N.E. Salem, OR 97301.
Military inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR on May 15, 2018 at 2:00pm and a Memorial Service will be on May 16, 2018 at 1:00pm at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1250 W 18th Ave. in Eugene.
