James "Jim" Alva Lacock, 78, passed away peacefully September 14, 2017. Born September 30, 1938 in Salem, Oregon, he was the third of five children to Lawrence and Mary Lacock. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Theodore Lacock.
Jim lived a life of dedication, honesty, loyalty, and love. Burdened by health adversities, beginning at a young age, his determination and resilience bridged a path over every obstacle he faced. He was a marvel, both to the medical world and to those who knew him.
Jim graduated from The Dalles High School in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart, Judith Mary Ulrich the following September. Celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, Jim was just as smitten with his bride as the day he married her. After graduating with a degree in electronics, he accepted a position at the University of Oregon in 1965, where he worked as a Broadcast Engineer for 30 years. In 1966, they purchased their home in Springfield, Oregon, where they raised four daughters. To this day, this home continues to provide love & laughter, not only for their daughters, but their husbands, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was a Jack-of-all-trades with a wealth of knowledge and ability. He gave freely of himself and left his touch wherever he went. He was a teacher to many, yet maintained a constant thirst for learning. Jim embraced the ever changing world of technology and celebrated the blessings of texting with his children & grandchildren.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, daughters, Linda Foster (Steven, dec.); Karen Horejs (Steve); Debi Bone (David); Sandy Martin (Scott); sister Doris Fyffe; brothers Herbert Lacock and David Lacock; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
