Obituary

Melvin G. Willey passed away July 28, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born in Canon City, Colorado to George R. Willey and Mary (Bowyer) Willey.
He moved to Oakridge in 1941 and entered the army during WWII. He served in the European Theatre and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He returned home in 1946 and married Thelma M. Barnes on September 21, 1946 in Eugene, Oregon. Thelma preceded him in death February 26, 2003.
He worked in the lumber industry as a timber faller for 40 years. He was a member of The First Christian Church of Oakridge and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and visiting with friends.
He is survived by daughter; Carol Lenocker and her husband Thomas of Eugene, Son; James Willey and his Wife Barbara of Westfir. He is also survived by four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life is planned for Friday August 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to The First Christian Church of Oakridge, or Signature Hospice of Eugene.
